    Don't Present it Just Yet!

You can prove the ROI and that changes everything!

You and your team have put the finishing touch on an exciting proposal to senior leadership, but wait…

    Stop!

Before you pitch your idea, ask yourself:

    • Have you calculated the projected return on investment (ROI)?
    • Do you have a “before” picture so that you can point to a successful ROI after project completion?

You will leave this interactive session with the tools and examples you need to answer these questions.  As a result, you’ll be able to plan for and calculate ROI so that you can demonstrate the value of your projects, including:

    1. Defining return on investment (ROI) and metrics
    2. Describing Kirkpatrick’s levels of evaluation as they relate to metrics
    3. Choosing metrics
    4. Calculating ROI (bring your calculator; some will be provided…)

Presenter:  Vic Passion, director of operations at TechProse and a credentialed Project Management Professional, has over 20 years of experience in project management, instructional design, technical writing, communications, and change management solutions for customers.

Can you track a moving target at work?

Do you know how to hear what people mean instead of what they say?

Does this sound familiar?  Your primary challenge is to consistently develop effective programs that meet your company or clients’ Learning and Development objectives and develop a solution that must also be highly relevant to the strategic needs.

However,  that becomes increasingly problematic in our fast-changing world, where objectives seem to shift as rapidly as sands at high tide.  Even with the best possible focus, intention, and information, you may still run into the unexpected:

    • Sudden shifts in organizational strategy.
    • Misunderstandings between what you were tasked to deliver and what was expected.
    • Differences magnified by what people say they want vs. what they truly seek.

The result is that a mismatch between your training program and your management’s expectations occurs. The question is, are you prepared to handle it?

The goal of tonight’s program is to arm you with both the methods and mindset so that you are prepared to deal effectively with these shifts and hidden challenges.  You will leave this interactive session with the tools and examples you need to:

    1. Evaluate accurately an organization’s strategic needs and goals.
    2. Develop relevant training programs for clients’ main objectives.
    3. Recognize, avoid, and adjust to potential pitfalls in aligning your training initiatives with your organization’s plans and requirements.

Presenter:  Thornton Prayer is an organizational consultant and coach whose career includes working with both small companies and large corporations such as Oracle and General Electric.  His experience is enhanced by a comprehensive foundation of technical and business education including a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.  Thornton is a Certified ChangeWorks Practitioner in the ChangeWorks!® System and educated in the Group Facilitation  Skills course from the Community At Work consulting firm.  He received his coaching instruction with the Coaches Training Institute.  Thornton’s career history and in-depth training enables him to provide a holistic perspective in addressing the vital challenges facing organizations and individual business professionals.
